PEROU is an organisation that acts as a hub for exploring urban resources (‘Pôle d’exploration des ressources urbaines’). It was founded in October 2012 and is based in Paris. The research and action group made up of philosophers, architects and artists is presided over by the landscape artist Gilles Clément and coordinated by the political specialist Sébastien Thiéry. The collective considers and reacts to the exclusionary measures of public policies by setting up sites that encourage sharing opinions and greater closeness.
The collective’s first action was to re-purpose the municipal decree relating to the expulsion of the Romany community located at Ris-Orangis in the Parisian suburbs at the end of 2012. During 2015 and 2016, PEROU drew up a manifesto-newspaper working with migrant refugees at Nord-Pas-de-Calais, and supported the creation of a new camp at the edge of Calais.
